Only three Ball State men's golfers have won the Mid-American Conference Championship individual title. The first was Kirk Schooley in 1983, and the second was Jamie Broce in 1997. But only one Ball State men's golfer has won it in his first season. Johnny Watts in 2015.
Ball State women's golf did not have to travel far for the 2016 Mid-American Conference championships, as the team starts its postseason play at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville on April 22.

The Men's golf team is in for a busy Spring Break, playing in two three day tournaments just a few days apart from each other. The Cardinals are bringing seven golfers, freshmen Timothy Wiseman and Tyler Pearson, sophomores Johnny Watts, Michael VanDeventer and Michael Makris, senior James Blackwell, and redshirt sophomore Keegan McKinney. The first event will be the Colleton River Collegiate, which is hosted by Michigan State and is being held at the Pete Dye Course at the Colleton River Plantation. Pete Dye is the architect for the course and is well known for his difficult and unforgiving course designs.
