Growing up interested in architecture, Katarina Antal chose Ball State because she knew it had a good program and offered her what she wanted. As a senior landscape architecture major, she knew she would be spending five years at Ball State because of the common curriculum program in the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP).

Joey Glover didn’t know who he was or where he wanted to spend his college years until he found Ball State. For him, Ball State felt like home as soon as he stepped on campus, and Spectrum, Ball State’s LGBTQ support organization, was an opportunity for him to grow into himself as a person, he said.

Walk into Angela Decker’s classroom, and you’ll see students not sitting at desks listening to a lecture, but singing along to Taylor Swift and sewing washcloths with their hands. One student finishes their project at the start of the class, while another asks Decker for help on how to thread string.

It’s a 13-minute walk from the heart of downtown Muncie to the White River — accessible to everyone and an almost daily sight.
