This movie is a two for one - the actual 'Tom and Jerry' movie is a fun slapstick romp that would please young and old fans alike, but the other half is a series of forgettable incidents and some real groan-worthy jokes. The old cartoons are still available to watch and would probably be a better use of one’s time.
2020 hasn’t been a great year for children’s book adaptations so far. The visuals, music, and performances are all perfectly enjoyable, but if you want a real succinct, satisfying mystery adventure, read the books instead.
Unless you’re stuck babysitting and really feel the need to plop the kids down in front of something relatively harmless, go ahead and skip this one.
