Ball State hosts its annual Unity Week celebration that aims to challenge perspectives on matters of diversity, inclusivity and solidarity in an evolving social climate.
The march was anticipated to follow the MLK Breakfast at Cardinal Halls to kickoff the university's 45th annual Unity Week.
Niecy Caldwell, a third-year dance major, was honored as Miss Unity. Gizelle Smedley, a fourth-year biology and pre-dentistry major, was the first runner-up; and Akailah Shepherd, a fourth-year elementary education major, was the second runner-up.

Latinx Student Union (LSU) held Latinxpoolza in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center in Cardinal Hall Jan. 20, as is tradition for Ball State University’s Unity Week. This was the 43rd annual Unity Week for Ball State, and Latinxpoolza continued the tradition of being one of the closing events of the week.
Jan. 16 from 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m., Ball State University's MLK Planning Committee, Ball State students and Muncie community members were involved in an on-campus march to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and raise awareness for inclusion and equality.
