It's a big weekend for the transitioning Muncie music scene. While some say the scene is dying, others say it is growing. One thing that can't be denied, however, is the amount of music-centered activities offered this weekend. Students can attend Village Green Record's concert Saturday in celebration of National Record Store Day.

Ball State goes barefoot

Dodging glass shards and mud, Hannah Jung walked barefoot all day across campus Thursday. Jung, a senior physical education and health education major, created a Facebook group encouraging students to go barefoot to bring awareness to the millions of people in developing nations who walk every day without shoes.

Barack Obama received 365 electoral votes and was announced president. Cardinal Impact received 1,838 votes and was announced the executive slate of Student Government Association. Announcing vote totals is commonplace for elections. There is no need to disclose who voted for whom, but the number of votes received is typically disclosed.

MEN'S TENNIS: Cardinals fight for positioning in MAC Tournament

Ball State University's men's tennis team will end the regular season with plenty on the line. Saturday's match with Northern Illinois University will determine the level of difficulty Ball State will face at the Mid-American Conference Tournament next weekend.

BASEBALL: Game canceled for second straight day

Wet field conditions forced the cancellation of the baseball game between Ball State University and Indiana University on Wednesday afternoon. The game had been pushed back an hour before it was determined the field was unplayable. No makeup date has been announced.

Revolutionary show at Pruis

Close to 300 people showed up at Pruis Hall Wednesday night for the Red Revolution concert which lasted about two and a half hours. Junior Kobei Jensen said he enjoyed the show and was glad a hip-hop show came to campus. "The event had a great turnout," Jensen said.

Comedian speaks about sexuality and culture for Spring Week

Charlie Ballard dropped to the floor and rolled in what was his imitation of an orgasm after eating a chili dog Thursday night at Cardinal Hall. Ballard, a comedian from San Francisco, Calif., was invited by Spectrum and the Native American studies minor program and performed for a crowd of more than 100 students, reaching controversial themes.

Founder of epop.com comes to BSU

A leading innovator of the digital imaging industry and Ball State University alumnus will return to campus today to showcase some of his work. Hans Kellogg, assistant professor of graphic arts, said Eric Poppleton, founder of epop.com, is well known for his creativity in his work with photography and his work on a project that created the world's largest high resolution image of Yosemite National Park.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals sign two guards for next season

Just weeks after the end to the most historic run in program history, the Ball State University women's basketball team signed two recruits for the upcoming season. According to a press release, coach Kelly Packard announced the signing of guard Ty'Ronda Benning and guard/forward Mercedes Miller Thursday.

Relay for Life gets 51 teams for fundraising event

The Ball State University chapter of Relay for Life will take over LaFollette Field and raise money for cancer research. From Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, more than 400 people divided into 51 teams will be at the event, according to Relay for Life's Web site.

SOFTBALL: BSU to play 'very beatable' Purdue

Despite Tuesday's game against the University of Dayton being canceled, the Ball State University softball team will try again today against Purdue University. Last year, the Cardinals defeated the Boilermakers 7-3 in Muncie. The Boilermakers are 20-14 overall and 5-5 in the Big Ten this season.

A group of students is putting on a concert tonight that it says is the beginning of "big plans" for the music scene on Ball State University's campus. Red Revolution, an all-ages concert showcasing a variety of music from local and out-of-state artists, is tonight at 7 p.m.

SOFTBALL: Boilermakers beat up Cards' pitching staff

WEST LAFAYETTE -¡-¡- Allowing four runs in the first inning proved to be too much for the Ball State University softball team. Pitcher Laura Masch gave up five runs on four hits with five walks in 1.2 innings of work in the 7-1 loss. Coach Craig Nicholson said the Cardinals (20-17, 10-1 Mid-American Conference) put themselves at a big disadvantage by giving up the four runs in the first to a team as good as the Boilermakers (21-14, 5-5 Big Ten).

Habitat for Humanity group raffling off golden toilet

The Habitat for Humanity Building Better Communities team is raffling off a golden toilet to raise awareness and educate students about reusing and volunteering today and Thursday. Kellie Burch, assistant director of Client Operations for Cardinal Communications, said the event is 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Scramble Light.

Three teams participate in Gay Games

Three teams participated in Spectrum's first Gay Games as part of the group's Spring Week of events. Members from Ball State University's Latino Student Union, women's rugby team and Spectrum gathered in Ball Gymnasium Tuesday after rain moved the event indoors.

IDEE has new ideas in interactivity

The Institute for Digital Entertainment and Education is working on a project which makes its director beg the question, "What's the point of delivering information anymore?" Rodger Smith is the director of IDEE, a group focused on presenting information in a more visual format, primarily over the Internet to engage students in all types of media, including a project to create digital supplements for textbooks.
