Sunny, warm weather, large crowds and live music helped the second annual National Record Store Day at Village Green Records attract hundreds of people, building on the foundation set by last year's event. Village Green Records owner Travis Harvey said despite a few "hiccups" early in the day, he was happy with the way the day went.
Ball State University track and field team member junior Katie Johnson racked up eight of the 30 points for the Cardinals at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. The team finished third in the Friday and Saturday meet at Louisville, Ky. Johnson clocked in a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.
Students who usually park in the C1 parking lot on the north side of Ball State University's campus will have to move their vehicles by 10 p.m. Tuesday or else be towed. Nancy Wray, parking services office manager, said the lot is closing to make room for the Late Nite Carnival, which is scheduled for Friday.
More than 500 people sampled 23 Muncie restaurants on Sunday at the 23rd annual Taste of Muncie at Cornerstone Center for the Arts. The fundraising event included 23 eateries offering samples, live entertainment and raffle prizes given out by the vendors.

After dropping the first game of a doubleheader against Central Michigan University 12-8, Ball State University baseball coach Greg Beals challenged his team to end its five-game losing streak and get back on track in the Mid-American Conference. Saturday morning's bomb threat at LaFollette Complex was not handled properly. Students were not informed of the situation until after the threat had subsided. The police handled the situation well and did their jobs effectively, however, the university's lack of communication to students is unacceptable.
