Ball State Women’s Volleyball (18-6, 10-2), the top team in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) West Division, swept the first-place team in the MAC East Division, Bowling Green (14-9, 9-3), to sit atop the MAC undisturbed in first place overall Oct. 28.
Ball State field hockey fell to Miami University on Senior Day 7-0 Oct. 28. The loss leaves the Cardinals 7-10 on the season and brings the RedHawks to 11-6.

“[When] we’re looking at scheduling and things of that nature, you are competing against other, more established meets that are on the schedule,” Wheatley said. “Our sport is a little different from other sports, again, it’s you’re at the mercy of what’s going on that weekend, and we have come up against a couple weekends where there are some established meets that attract other teams.”

Before the whistle to start the game, Ball State prepared by listening to music, going for walks, talking and even watching Premier League soccer. Elgert said she takes time to watch soccer before her games as a way to get into the mindset while learning from some of Manchester City’s strategies.
In a duel of the two winningest programs in Mid-American Conference (MAC) history, Ball State (17-6, 9-2) would set the tone early in its four-set win against Western Michigan (13-10, 5-6), holding the Broncos to a .174 hitting percentage through the first two sets.
Ball State Football (4-4, 2-2 MAC) fell 20-16 to Eastern Michigan (5-3, 2-2 MAC) to put an end to their three-game winning streak, unable to cap off Homecoming week on a positive note.
As Ball State was not able to capitalize on opportunities to secure their fourth straight win, here are four takeaways from the Cardinals’ conference loss.

“We love our fans here in Worthen; we love playing here,” fourth-year middle blocker Marie Plitt said. “Everyone is so supportive, especially our Men’s team and other sports teams and the Muncie community in general.”
The Cardinals host Eastern Michigan in the 2022 homecoming game with both sides coming into the matchup 4-3 overall. Ball State played a comeback role in the last three games, defeating Northern Illinois in overtime, beating Central Michigan 17-16 after trailing most of the game and most recently knocking off UConn with a shutout in the second half after being behind 21-10 at halftime.
Second-seed in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), Ball State, and third-seed, Kent State, went head to head in an attempt to advance in the MAC tournament seedings Oct. 20.
“At first it was hard to hear that we didn’t have a home meet because it is always fun and I had a lot of people tell me they were going to come to the home meet,” Van Eck said. “You know you work with what you got and I’m going to take every race as an opportunity to do my best, work with the team and compete.”

Ball State women's volleyball, now winners in seven straight matches, knocked off Toledo to take sole possession of Mid-American Conference (MAC) West Division after a career-high 19 kills from third-year outside hitter Cait Snyder.
The Ball State men’s golf team traveled to Kettering, Ohio to compete in the Dayton Flyer Invitational. The Cardinals finished 7th out of 13 teams with graduate student Joey Ranieri tying for ninth individually.
