The Ball State University women's basketball team dropped its second straight game Thursday night, falling to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay 83-63.Even with her team going up against an undefeated Green Bay team that is receiving votes in the Associated Press and Coaches' polls, coach Kelly Packard believes the game could have been closer had her team finished the game strong.
Women's volleyball coach Dave Boos pleased to be back at Ball State for the 2010 season.
Ball State will travel to Indiana State on Wednesday. The Sycamores shoot 76.7 percent from the line, 17th best in the nation.
INDIANAPOLIS- To say that Ball State University had a good meet on Saturday would be doing the team a disservice. The Cardinals were up by so many points, some swimmers and a relay were counted as exhibition to make the score look better. The times can still be counted as season bests and the wins are still wins, but they just were not counted toward the total team score in Saturday's meet.The four-way dual meet at IUPUI on Saturday was a seemingly easy win for Ball State, whose score almost beat all three other teams scores combined. Ball State beat IUPUI 106-34, Saint Louis University 99.5-40.5 and Western Illinois University 104-35.
COLUMBIA, MO.- The University of Missouri women's basketball coach Cindy Stein said her team found opportunities in the second half to win. Those opportunities were at the expense of Ball State University, who dropped a 27-26 halftime lead to lose 66-55 Saturday."In the second half, we came out with more intensity on defense and that intensity on defense created offense," Missouri guard RaeShara Brown said.
Stan Parrish said a 2-10 record hasn't put a damper on Ball State University's recruiting efforts this year.With high school and college football seasons completed, the recruiting trail is heating up. Parrish spent last week on the road and started again early Monday morning. The Cardinals have not lost any recruits after the disappointing season.
All five MAC teams with at least seven wins will be invited to a bowl game this year. The conference has tie-ins with three bowls, but the remaining two will still get an invitation because other conferences are unable to fill their slots.
If Laura Seibold-Caudill could pick a place to have her team's home swim meets, it might not be Lewellen Pool. Over the past two seasons, the Ball State University women's swimming and diving team is undefeated at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI. The Cardinals will look to continue that streak on Saturday in a four-way dual at IUPUI. Before they can, however, they will host Eastern Illinois University Friday night at Lewellen.
Coach Nadalie Walsh is trying to answer one question."It's still early, but where are we as a team?" she said.Walsh hopes to find answers this Saturday when the Ball State University women's gymnastics team hosts the University of Kentucky in an exhibition meet at 1 p.m. in Worthen Arena. This will be the first exhibition meet that the Cardinals have held during Walsh's tenure. In previous seasons, the team has held an intrasquad exhibition to prepare for the regular season, she said.
Although the calendar has turned the page to December, the Ball State University men's swimming and diving team has no intentions of getting an early start on Winter Break. On Friday, Ball State hosts Eastern Illinois University at 6 p.m. The Cardinals get no rest as they head to Indianapolis the following day to take part in a quad-meet against IUPUI, Western Illinois University and Saint Louis University. It will be the second time that the Cardinals have traveled to IUPUI this season, as they placed second in the IUPUI House of Champions tournament November 13 and 14.

Jarrod Jones spun around Matt Howard on Wednesday night's opening possession and it appeared that Ball State University would be able to compete with Butler University.Jones laid the ball in and the Cardinals had a 2-0 lead on the No. 23 team in the country. But Shelvin Mack made sure the advantage was short-lived, hitting three 3-pointers to lead the Bulldogs on a 10-0 run.
Trapped in a corner, Pierre Sneed pivoted four times with the ball and looked toward the Ball State University bench for answers on the opposite side of the court.The lost feeling on offense was a common one in the Cardinals' game last night against No. 23 Butler University.Ball State scored just 11 points in a first half where it shot 4-of-21 (19 percent) from the field and dug too deep of a hole in its 59-38 loss to Butler.
A trio of Cardinals have been named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team.Defensive ends senior Brandon Crawford and junior Robert Eddins, as well as senior running back MiQuale Lewis were voted onto the team by the MAC's 13 head coaches.
Ball State University Assistant Professor of Sport Administration David Pierce, along with Indiana University Kelley School of Business Professor Kyle Anderson, completed a study that shows referees do have a home team bias when calling fouls over the course of the game.
