In the Mid-American Conference preseason poll released Tuesday, the Ball State men’s basketball team was picked to finish fourth in West Division standings.

Saying a team plays to the level of its competition generally has a negative connotation, but Ball State showed the positive side of that argument on Thursday.
With Ball State’s postseason chances possibly on the line, someone had to jump start the Cardinals after the team faced match point in the fifth set 14-12 against Toledo.
