It’s no secret that the Cardinals have struggled this season in doubles action. They have found themselves trailing after the first point eight times this year.
When Ryan McBride and two classmates were assigned to a project to come up with ways to draw more students to Ball State games and create a better atmosphere, they were immediately intrigued.
For the past six seasons, Billy Taylor calmly patrolled the sidelines, hardly ever losing his cool with players or officials during the game.
Ball State stood tied with IPFW 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth Friday afternoon. With sophomore Jarrett James on third, senior Dominick Catanzarite stepped to the plate.
A little luck and some crafty play earned Ball State a key 4-3 victory over Xavier on St. Patrick’s Day. With the win, Ball State improved to 9-6 on the season.
It was a pick-your-poison type of women’s basketball game. In Friday’s Mid-American Conference semifinal, Akron prevailed 70-61.
The Cardinals finished the game with three runs and held the Tar Heels to a single run.
Ball State returned home looking for its first win after a six-game losing streak. They swept both Aquinas and Oakland 7-0 putting the team at 9-7 for the season.
Earlier this week head coach Joel Walton said he expected Ball State’s men’s volleyball team to win both of its games.
Working through a season where Ball State often played bigger than its players actually were, it caught up to them against Akron in the MAC Semifinal, where they lost 70-61.
For most teams, a loss at the end of the season is a failure.
Billy Taylor talked about the team’s ability to overcome injuries and playing out of position to finish with a 15-15 record.
After sweeping through the past weekend, Ball State’s men’s volleyball team’s confidence is back to the level it was when the team started the season 8-0.
The Bulls’ constant movement kept the Cardinals scrambling to help and recover on all the options available in their spread offense.
If Akron’s frontcourt of Demetrius Treadwell and Zeke Marshall taught coach Billy Taylor anything, it’s that Ball State needed to recruit big to compete.
Like many volleyball players, as an adolescent Jamion Hartley never imagined he would prefer volleyball’s float serves over basketball’s jump shots.
