Cardinals sweep Hawks in conference opener

The 5-1 Ball State Men's Volleyball team took on the 5-2 Quincy University Hawks for their first conference game at Worthen Arena on Friday night. Coming into the game the Cardinals were statistically the favorite team with a .321 attack percentage compared to the Hawks .258. Defensively, both teams are consistent in holding their opponents to low attack percentages, which is the reason for both teams' early season success.

Freshman makes immediate impact

It's easy to see why a 6-foot-10 three-year letter winner, two-time regional champion at Mount Carmel High School and Illinois and one of Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 prospects for 2014 was of immediate interest to Ball State men's volleyball coach Joel Walton. Matt Walsh, the NCAA's leader in blocks per set, has stepped into the Ball State lineup and contributed immediately.
