Coach seeks teamwork as Ball State looks for 1st win

Ball State field hockey coach Sally Northcroft has preached the idea of teamwork since she took over. After another winless weekend, the Cardinals are 0-4 on the young season. Ball State lost to Villanova on Sept. 4 and dropped a one-goal game to LaSalle on Sept. 6.

Ball State attendance eclipses 10,000 in 1st game

For just the third time in the last two seasons, Scheumann Stadium's attendance reached 10 thousand for a home football game. Ball State defeated Virginia Military Institute 48-36 in the season opener in front of 10,473 spectators. Athletic Director Mark Sandy said attendance was about where he expected, but it could have been better.

Offensive line key in Ball State victory

In its first game of the season, the Ball State football team gained 567 total yards and put up 48 points. Head coach Pete Lembo was able to utilize his fast-paced, short-yardage-based offense thanks to the time his veteran offensive line provided for the quarterback and running backs.

Ball State to take on 3 undefeated teams in Lipscomb Tournament

Following the loss to IUPUI on Sept. 2, the upcoming Lipscomb Tournament might've gotten even tougher for the Ball State women's volleyball team. Because the team is on the road, there isn't much time to adjust following its three-set loss. The Cardinals head into the Lipscomb Tournament Sept. 4 where they will see three undefeated teams.

Ball State suffers 1st loss of season at IUPUI

After a 3-0 start to begin the season, the Ball State women's volleyball team suffered its first defeat of the season on Sept. 2 at IUPUI. The Cardinals had four straight chances to close out the first set, but couldn't capitalize and fell 29-27. The Jaguars carried the momentum into a sweep victory.


Senior Jacob Richard was a former walk-on at Ball State.

Jacob Richard: From walk-on to Ball State anchor

He's always looked up to his older brothers. Ball State senior center Jacob Richard saw his brother Jameson Richard play on the offensive line for Buffalo, and then professionally with the Indianapolis Colts. Jacob didn't start playing until the fifth grade, but he decided in kindergarten he wanted to follow in his brother's footsteps.
