Confidence powers Cardinals past Colonels

With Family Weekend wrapped around Ball State football's home opener, a confident air spread across the Cardinals' sideline. The swagger started with head coach Mike Neu — he said he told the players they wouldn't leave the field unless the Cardinals beat Eastern Kentucky to improve to 2-1.

Weekend in Athletics

Most Ball State athletics teams spent the last couple weeks on the road, but Family Weekend will feature home games from football, women's volleyball and soccer. Cross country and field hockey, however, will hit the road again.

Code Red adds conditioning, prepares for Nationals

Ball State’s Code Red dance team maintains their fitness while perfecting their dance moves. Not only do they have to memorize dance routines and smile constantly, they also have to stay in shape to stand up for an entire football game. Senior dancer, Amy Beckwith, says the conditioning has been different each year.

Women's volleyball aims stay consistent at weekend tournament

Consistency will be the goal for women's volleyball when the Cardinals (2-9) host the Active Ankle Challenge Sept. 16 and 17. Head coach Kelli Miller said it's the reason why the Cardinals lost their first nine games. “One match will look great, and one will be very average," she said. "This is one thing we have been consistently talking about. We need to keep a consistent level of play and consistent energy so that we don’t have to hope that things happen — we want to know that we can make things happen." Miller said the Cardinals displayed that improved consistency last weekend, when Ball State won its first two matches of the season against Morehead State and Appalachian State. “It was nice to finally get the monkey off our back and be able to finally get a win," she said.
