Franko House named MAC West Player of the Week

Ball State men's basketball senior forward Franko House led the Cardinals with 23 points in a season opener win over Saint Louis. House's performance earned him the honors of Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week. Head coach James Whitford said its great that House got the honor so early in the year.

Strong defense leads Cardinals to 3-1 win over Western Michigan

Tied 4-4 early in the fourth set, senior outside hitter Mackenzie Kitchel’s block at the net got the Ball State Cardinals fired up after losing the previous set 25-12. After that block, the Cardinals would never trail in the match again and went on runs of 6-0 and 7-0 to defeat Western Michigan 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 12-25, 25-14).

Turnovers mar otherwise stellar offensive performance for Ball State

With 41 points on the board and 542 offensive yards, Ball State’s offense still could’ve had a better day. Senior receiver KeVonn Mabon even finished his last home game with 12 catches for 149 yards and three touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing) – but five turnovers and an inability to convert on third down cost the Cardinals in their 48-41 loss to Eastern Michigan. “We’re not losing to these teams, we’re really just beating ourselves,” Mabon said. “All of our losses, we beat ourselves.”

Ball State soccer misses out on NCAA Tournament

Ball State soccer held out hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after an early exit from the Mid-American Conference Tournament, but Monday night the team learned its season is officially over. The Cardinals (14-3-4) won the MAC regular season title and finished the season ranked 51st in the RPI rankings, but did not make the 64-team tournament. 19 teams ranked lower than Ball State made the cut, but only two of those teams -- Oklahoma State and Texas A&M -- received at-large bids.
