Cardinals look to continue home dominance

The Ball State soccer regular season is winding down.
The Ball State soccer team hasn't lost in over a month. Its seven-game win streak is just one away from the school record set in 2006.
Ball State soccer goalkeeper Alyssa Heintschel, has been dominant on field as well as in the classroom. Heintschel has been named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the week.
Ball State soccer team is now 5-0 in Mid-American Conference play, which is the program’s best start ever. The Cardinals (9-2-2, 5-0 MAC) beat Kent State 3-0, scoring all three goals in the last 20 minutes of the game.
The Ball State soccer team continues to dominate Mid-American Conference competition, moving to 5-0 for the first time in program history. This is the teams sixth consecutive win as they move past the conference's top scoring team. Ball State remains the top-ranked MAC school after the victory, moving to 9-2-2 after the 3-0 victory over MAC east front runner, Kent State. Ball State remained patient in this game, not scoring until the 74th minute, but from there they took off. Senior Chelsy Swackhamer scored one goal, while freshman Abbie Boswell scored two goals in the match.
The Ball State soccer team is having the best season start in eight years. The Cardinals are 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference, marking the third time in team history where they reached this feat, the last two times being in 2006 and 2007.
The Ball State soccer team is off to a 4-0 start in Mid-American Conference play, and the Cardinals are doing it with offense. The MAC's last undefeated team swept two matches last weekend and extended its winning streak to five matches. Ball State outshot its opponent in all five of those matches
Junior defender, Leah Mattingly, has been awarded with the Mid-American Conference co-defensive player of the week award. This is the fourth time a Cardinal has been honored by the MAC for a weekly award. Mattingly assisted the Cardinals defense by limiting opponents to six shots on goal throughout the week. She has played this entire season on the defensive end and only one team has managed to score more than one goal against the Cardinals this year. Ball State remains the only undefeated team in the MAC at 4-0.
Senior Chelsy Swackhamer helped Ball State get off to a 2-0 start in Mid-American Conference play and has been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
The Ball State soccer team is now 4-0 in its last four Mid-American Conference openers. Ball State won against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 25, and defeated Bowling Green on Sept. 27 for a 2-0 start in MAC play.
The Ball State soccer team ended non-conference play with a win, and head coach Craig Roberts reached a milestone in the process. Ball State traveled to Morehead State on Sept. 20 and took home a 3-1 victory over the Eagles. Roberts became the second Ball State soccer coach to reach 50 career victories, joining Ron Rainey.
Craig Roberts is in the middle of a season as the head coach of the Ball State soccer team, but he will be coaching elsewhere this week.
Junior forward Lexi Kavanaugh has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for field hockey. Kavanaugh’s performance in the past three games has been crucial for the Cardinals' offensive attack. She scored four of the team’s six goals this week, as Ball State took on Northwestern, Ohio State and Appalachian State.
The Ball State soccer team tied IU Sept. 13, giving up a late goal in regulation for Indiana to even the score at 1-1. They played two overtime periods before ending in a tie.
In its first ever match against a Southeastern Conference team, Ball State tied LSU 1-1, and impressed head coach Craig Roberts in the process. “I thought we were outstanding,” Roberts said. “Playing a quality SEC team like LSU is always a good challenge, but our girls stood up there in the heat and produced well.”
The Ball State soccer team struck twice against Wright State in the first half and held off in the second to defeat the Raiders 2-1.
After two straight 11 win seasons and coming up one game short of the Mid-American Conference Championship last year, the Ball State soccer team is hungry for more.
The Cardinals announced the release of their schedule for the 2015 season. The schedule includes road matches against LSU, Indiana and IPFW.
The Ball State soccer team faced off against the Haiti National team for the third straight season on Sunday, playing to a 1-1 draw at the Briner Sports Complex.
The Ball State soccer program will be hosting a skills training camp for boys and girls ages 4 to 13 beginning on Jan. 25. The camp will be held every Sunday for eight weeks.
