Ball State has a new club, courtesy of the Multicultural Center. The Multicultural Center Book Club held its first meeting Wednesday, Sept. 8 in the center’s multipurpose room. While attendance was low, attendees and organizers were excited for the group’s potential.

It was Maria Fitch’s 3rd birthday. Jason Newman, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Muncie, was a preschool teacher in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood at the time. Before the school year started, he paid visits to his students and their families. For Fitch, her visit coincidentally fell on her 3rd birthday — Sept. 11, 2001.
Ball State’s Student Government Association (SGA) introduced a new amendment at its Sept. 8 meeting, which proposes to send one executive slate member to all Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and Panhellenic Association (PHA) meetings.

Tom Gubbins woke up earlier than usual that Tuesday morning. It was before 9 a.m., and his radio was on and set to his typical station, one that would normally play “The Bob & Tom Show.” But, instead of the satirical humor he was used to listening to while getting ready, Gubbins heard announcements from CNN Radio, a station he didn’t know existed.
When she was just 13 years old, Bibi Bahrami saw her home become a place too dangerous to live. Her friends and family had to evacuate the Behsood district of eastern Afghanistan to live as refugees in Pakistan after the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. Bahrami witnessed death and devastation, as she lost a brother, three cousins and her grandfather.
Ball State took the course for its first action of the season this past weekend in Bloomington, Indiana. The Cardinals tied 7th out of 15 teams, with a final score of 888 (+18) at the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational.

Bracken Library evacuated its building at approximately 5 p.m. Sept. 5 with water seen outside the main doors. The university tweeted Monday that Bracken will remain closed Sept. 7 due to an ongoing issue with a main water line.
For the first time since 2019, Ball State soccer experienced a win in its home stadium in front of fans. Ball State used its home field advantage to secure a 3-1 victory against Purdue-Fort Wayne Sunday afternoon.
Ball State Women’s volleyball went undefeated in tournament play for the second straight weekend, defeating DePaul and Marshall to remain perfect on the season and win the TRU by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational.
Ball State Women’s Volleyball extended its undefeated streak Friday evening against Wright State. The Cardinals defeated the Raiders in four sets, by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 26-24 and 25-20, respectively.
It was also the first game of the season for Ball State Football. There were a lot of firsts for the Cardinals in their 31-21 win against Western Illinois.

For the first time since Nov. 2019, Scheumann Stadium was full of Cardinal fans Thursday evening. Ball State used a 24-point second half to pull away with a 31-21 victory against Western Illinois. Head coach Mike Neu was ecstatic with the atmosphere and fan turnout.
A total of five yellow cards were called, three on Ball State, two on Cincinnati, as the Bearcats won 2-1 over the Cardinals.
