Despite the blizzard outside that caused her to cancel classes, President Jo Ann Gora said her day in the office is proceeding normally. All her meetings continued as planned except a lunch scheduled with freshmen students who canceled on her. "It surprised me because they are here and I'm here," she said.
At 3:30 p.m. Monday, Brian Grubbs clocked out and left the Ball State University North Grounds Building. The facilities group leader went home, threw snowballs with his two daughters and ate dinner with his family, as he might any other day in his four years at Ball State.
Indianapolis, and Indiana as a whole, are a little more than a week removed from their surreal Super Bowl victory, and the random stories from the Colts' championship season continue to pour out. The most intriguing story, however, is the coaching method of Tony Dungy.
The winter weather didn't stop the Ball State University women's swimming and diving team from leaving Muncie to travel to the Mid-American Conference Championships Tuesday. "We're on the road and it's quite an adventure," co-coach Bob Thomas said Tuesday.

Today's blizzard left state and county roads covered in dangerous amounts snow and ice, according to an Indiana State Police report. Mile-marker 59 on Interstate 69 in Grant County was closed at 10:30 a.m. today after a semi-tractor with two trailers jack-knifed and rolled onto its side blocking both southbound lanes, according to reports.
The Delaware County Commissioners decided to keep the Delaware County and Justice Center closed Wednesday, but county highway crews will still be available to help police and EMS vehicles through the night. Plowing will begin in the early morning hours, and because the Muncie Sanitary District is using trash trucks to help plow the streets, regular trash routes will be delayed.

The Student Government Association nominated United Initiative and Vote Bare as the two presidential slates Monday. Students can vote in the SGA elections on Feb. 26 and 27 at bsu.edu/votebsu. Matt Lacy and Matt Walker were nominated for At-Large Senate, but there were no nominations for Judicial Court, University Senate or Off-Campus Senate.
Although students had a day off Tuesday, Ball State University staff wasn't so lucky. Classes were canceled due to hazardous weather - but Ball State staff didn't get the day off. University staff accomplish many necessary tasks each day to keep campus running smoothly.

Even though he is working on a digital media minor, Matt Erwin doesn't understand the hype about MySpace and Facebook, two of the most popular communication sites on the Web. "I use Facebook and MySpace solely for social reasons, for maybe an hour per week combined," said Erwin, sophomore music technology major.
Tonight's men's basketball 7 p.m. game for the Ball State University men's basketball team against Northern Illinois University is still on. According to Chris Taylor, the director of communications & marketing and the team's sports information director, the team is still playing, it's just a matter of whether or not they'll be able to come back to Muncie after the game.
