Wabash River provides inspiration for local artists

Muncie residents will have the opportunity to view the Wabash River from 100 different angles in all four seasons March 24 through June 24 at Minnetrista. Local artists David Dale and Jim Faulkner traveled more than 500 miles during a span of 15 years to capture the Wabash River in order to complete the display.

When freshman standout Travis Smith died in a traffic accident Jan. 27, the Ball State men's golf coach was in the process of determining the spring season captain. BSU expects to profit from WNIT game

The attendance of 3,581 at Ball State University's second round home game in the WNIT exceeded the athletic department's expectations. To secure the second round home game, Ball State bid to pay a minimum of $8,296 to the Women's Collegiate Sports Association with the assumption 2,250 tickets would be sold for the game against the University of Kentucky, according to bid documents.

BASEBALL: Cardinals ready to begin conference season

The Ball State University baseball team will start its 2007 Mid-American Conference season by celebrating its 2006 MAC Tournament championship. Before Sunday's final game of a three-game home series against University of Akron, Ball State athletics will hold the ring ceremony celebrating the championship that took the Cardinals to the NCAA Regionals last season.

TJ's plans move across University

TJ's Great Burgers on University Avenue in The Village will be closed for about five weeks before it reopens across the street. The restaurant will move into the former Little Havana Tobacco Cabana location, owner Richard Reece said. It has already moved most of its equipment and furniture to the new location, he said.

Students help sick, poor

College Spring Break is a time for students to relax and take a break from their busy schedule, but this year, eight Ball State University students headed down to Guatemala to provide medical care for those in need. Matt LaFlash, senior pre-medicine and Spanish major, said the Timmy Foundation, a non-profit organization out of Indianapolis, sponsored the trip, which lasted from March 10 to March 17 and included five professionals, including a pharmacist and lawyer.

Students working sleepless nights to finish up final papers and projects now have a chance to work in the comfort of their homes thanks to a developing Google feature. Ball State University Libraries has begun using the Google Books Search Project, a large-scale book digitalization project of scanning books and placing their contents online where anyone can access the information.
