TORONTO - While Ray Rice was named the International Bowl Most Valuable Player with 280 rushing yards and four touchdowns, the threat of a Rutgers University passing game opened the flood gates that Rice raced through for much of the game. On the first drive of the game, Rice ran three times for 24 yards but the big play of the drive was a 36-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Mike Teel to wide receiver Tim Brown.
Ball State University alumnus Matt Momper was selected to the university's Board of Trustees. Gov. Mitch Daniels announced the appointment Jan. 4, Media Relations Manager Layne Cameron said. Momper, a Ft. Wayne resident, is president of an insulation company, according to a press release.

The Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity headquarters has placed a cease and desist order on the Ball State University chapter of the fraternity. According to a press statement from the headquarters, it said the cease and desist order will remain in effect until the headquarters and the university have completed an investigation of the fraternity's involvement in a recent theft at Theta Chi Fraternity's house.
TERRE HAUTE - With 7:58 left in Ball State University's game at Indiana State University Saturday and the Cardinals down by 16, injured junior forward Anthony Newell went into his team's huddle and attempted to exhort them to come back. At the end of his speech, he left the huddle with a look on his face that plainly said he didn't know what to do.
Eight players dressed to play for the Ball State University women's basketball team Saturday against the University of Evansville, while the Purple Aces dressed seven to play off of the bench. Injuries made the Cardinals play without starting guard Kiley Jarrett and forced Julie DeMuth, their leading scorer, to appear 26 minutes in the 70-55 loss.

Wood Student Health Center, said he sees students with stress-related health concerns every day, even more so during midterms, finals and the holidays.

Men's Golf Despite losing five seniors in May, the men's golf team showcased its young and upcoming talent during the fall season. Led by junior Brian Maurer, the Cardinals best finish was fourth out of 17 teams at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational in Muncie.
Crowds of shoppers flooded the stores Nov. 23, driving retail sales up, despite predictions that this year would attract less holiday shoppers than previous years. If the Ball State University Board of Trustees approves a smoking ban, smokers will need to be careful where they light up unless they want to pay a fine, according to the Smoke-Free Implementation Task Force report. Kay Bales, vice president of student affairs, said the Task Force released the report late last week, and it explains how the university will institute a smoke-free campus policy if it is passed.
