Faculty Council chairperson Kip Shawger has it right — Ball State prides itself on being non-discriminatory. We were disappointed that Ball State didn’t step forward at the same time as Indiana University to show disapproval for House Joint Resolution 6, which would define marriage as between a man and a woman in the state constitution. The resolution already puts Indiana forward as an extremely conservative state that clearly won’t accept all kinds of people.

The loss the Ball State women’s volleyball team suffered to the University of Toledo on Thursday wasn’t a surprise considering Toledo’s talent, but Saturday’s loss to a 2-12 conference University of Akron team was shocking.
It’s about that time of year again. Students roll out of bed for their 8 a.m. classes to realize the pajamas they wore to bed won’t suffice in the below-freezing weather. Over the summer, I received multiple emails from Ticketmaster about the History of The Eagles tour. At first, I deleted them, blaming my lack of money and friends interested in the band for not attending.
Last Tuesday, McKenzie Clift published an opinion piece in opposition to the comprehensive immigration reform bill passed by the Senate earlier this year. Clift clearly has some misconceptions about the actual provisions of the bill and what its implications are for the country. Her conclusions about what she calls the Democratic “amnesty” bill — in reality a bipartisan compromise crafted and supported by four Republican Senators, including John McCain and Marco Rubio — are largely incorrect.
