‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ falls short of its legacy

‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ is pretty much “Establishing Shots: The Movie”

 While "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" had its fun moments, it  definitely started to unravel in the third act. It’s as basic as a  filler film can be, and overall isn’t very memorable. Despite being  riddled with problems, it does take steps in the right direction. It’s  too bad the first half hour is full of establishing shots. 

‘Lego The Incredibles’ is simply below Parr

 ‘Lego The Incredibles’ is another piece in the colossal set that is the  Lego series of games, and while certain mechanics and a Pixar paint job  do a lot to keep things from going stale, there just isn’t enough there  to be worth a full-priced release. If you’re a fan of ‘The Incredibles’  or have kids who can’t get enough of building bricks and caped  crusaders, then feel free to grab this one. Otherwise, you’re better off  picking up another game in the series with more content and variety  than this one. Overall, it may be fun, but this game’s capes don’t cut  it. 

“Incredibles 2” pulls no punches

Overall, 'Incredibles 2' is definitely worth the wait. The film expertly  balances action while showcasing a genuine family connection. Through  the use of a strong plot and a different perspective on existing  characters, the film feels fresh and nostalgic at the same time. This is  an incredible film for both newcomers and veterans of the older Pixar  generation. 

“Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” is a perfect fit for any Switch library

“Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” is a great fit for any Nintendo Switch  library. The port was flawlessly executed, though portable mode can be a  bit questionable at times. The game is the same incredible remake of  the "Crash" trilogy that it always was, with amazing visuals and music.  Sure, the games are inconsistent and sometimes borderline awful, but the  overall experience is so great that even levels like “Slippery Climb”  can be excused. It’s solid buy for any Switch owner who has never gotten  a chance to experience these gloriously retro titles.

‘Sushi Striker: The Way of the Sushido’ is raw, flavorful, and colorful fun

 'Sushi Striker: The Way of the Sushido' is a super charming game with  addictive puzzle gameplay. The story and writing aren’t deep, but in  conjunction with the art-style, it all becomes an interactive Saturday  morning cartoon. The 2D art especially looks incredibly well-done and  oozes with style, though the 3D art looks bland by comparison. The  gameplay is what really sells it. There is so much more depth and  challenge than expected of a game like this, and hours upon hours can be  put in getting perfect clears in every stage. Even if the game  sometimes  doesn’t make sense, it just flows and makes the player feel  smart despite seemingly not doing much. Just leave the Hard Mode Belt  on; it’ll make the game more engaging. 

‘My Hero Academia’ Season 3, Episode 10: “Symbol of Peace”

Overall, this episode was a game-changer on many levels. Before, I  considered the show to be less serious. However, with the death of Best  Jeanist and the anger of All Might, that has changed my mind. The next  episode looks to give more backstory on the history between All Might  and One for All, so that will be a sure topic that shouldn’t be missed. 

Hotel Artemis: An excellent crime thriller aided by a colorful ensemble cast

While Hotel Artemis is a film that lacks in plot and action, it  definitely makes up for it in its style, atmosphere, and characters. The  ensemble cast give out great performances, and the different  interactions between the colorful characters is a treat to watch.  However, what brings it down is that it doesn’t take advantage of its  future setting, as well as the pacing issues when it comes to the second  act. All in all, it’s still definitely a treat for those looking for  something different than the usual blockbuster fare.

At the end of the day, it's easy to say that I would spend the money to  see Post Malone again. That says a lot about how incredible the  experience was.  

‘Ocean’s 8’ proves that 8 is better than 11

If you’re a fan of the Ocean movies, then this movie is worth seeing.  Don’t look for anything too new, however. The cast is lovable and fun to  watch, but it’s not worth a second watch. The plot is dull, and the  humor is just as dull. The film feels kind of rushed and missing the key  elements that the original movies had.   

“Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn” lives up to the quality of the original

‘Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn’ is a joke of a game. It wears the fact it’s a  joke game on its sleeve. Unfortunately, the joke isn’t very funny. The  gameplay is dull and repetitive, with no salvation in sight from the  blandness of mashing a single button. The writing and art style are  horribly dated, and not in a charming way. The music exists. And the  length is an absolute joke for the cost, but even if there was more of  it, it would just be terrible. Even under seven layers of irony, there  are no redeeming qualities to make it worth a purchase. Finally, to add  insult to injury, the game crashed at the very end during the final  boss. The game got refunded after that. Do not purchase this game under  any circumstances. 

‘My Hero Academia’ Season 3, Episode 8: “From Iida to Midoriya”

Overall, there was a lot of developments in this episode with the  student’s demeanor and how the school is now being perceived by the  public. It is a unique situation in a show for the heroes to be in a  negative point of view. However, there is hope for our protagonists to  still show that heroes will always prevail. As always, I am excited for  next week’s episode. 

‘Detroit: Become Human’ is an ambitious sci-fi drama with flawed features

'Detroit: Become Human' is an ambitious interactive sci-fi drama where  your choices have a drastic impact on events, making them more  satisfying than other games in the genre. Though I wish the story wasn’t  so heavy-handed with game's motifs, I still enjoyed the subtlety  conveyed through its tech and performances. Much of the gameplay could  have been improved by giving more options with the mechanics, like the  detective mode, and providing reminders of the choices I had already  made. But I would still recommend this game for people looking for a  story-driven game with branching paths. 

‘Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon’ is the perfectly portioned appetizer to IGA’s main course

 ‘Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon’ is a perfectly portioned appetizer to  the upcoming main course of ‘Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.’ The  game looks great, sounds great, and plays exactly like it should. The  'Castlevania' influence flows through all parts of this product, and  despite my personal distaste for the original 'Castlevania' games, this  game makes the right improvements on the gameplay to keep it fresh,  fair, and fun. It even delivers a shocking amount of length for a game  of this style. ‘Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon’ reaches ‘Shovel Knight’  levels of perfectly nailing the feel of an NES classic. 

“Show Dogs” is a new pedigree of lame animal comedy

Show Dogs is one of the worst examples of condescending family  entertainment this reviewer has seen in a long time. With extremely low  production values and extremely shoddy writing, it is extremely hard to  recommend to anyone who doesn’t feel nostalgic for an age of film making  where movies like this were seen as tent pole films for studios across  the board. However, if you have a sweet tooth for schlock like this  and/or have younger family members who have an affinity for dogs… you’re  still better off watching Air Bud and its cosmic smorgasbord of  sequels. 

“Solo: A Star Wars Story” can be fun, but blends into a crowd all too well

'Solo: A Star Wars Story' has a lot of problems. Its writing is  inconsistent, it’s too visually muddy, it needed to be about 20 minutes  shorter, and it needed to have its own legs to stand on. Despite all of  that, there are enough great action sequences and good character moments  that the film can’t be written off as completely terrible. It can,  however, be written off as bland and forgettable. Much like Han Solo  himself, the film is enjoyable, but flawed and ultimately unimportant. 

‘My Hero Academia’ Season 3, Episode 7: “What a Twist!”

 This episode wrapped up an arc and began the next one. It dealt a lot  with the aftermath of the attack, and highlighted what UA is going to do  next. The animation is beautiful and shows some interesting scenes. It  deals with the loss of a friend and how people feel about that. Overall,  the episode helps excite the viewer for what is coming up next. 

‘Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux’ is an underwhelming port of a classic game

 'Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux' is a tough game to really  judge. All the parts I love about the game are present in the original,  and the things added by the port ranged from neutral additions to  actively ruining the experience. However, the original isn’t exactly  easy to find for a low cost, despite its age. For those who are just now  getting into actual 'Shin Megami Tensei' titles, 'Strange Journey  Redux' will offer a great introduction with just enough anime to keep  'Persona' fans enticed. For longtime 'Shin Megami Tensei' fans who still  own a copy of the original, wait for a sale before buying the port.  There wasn’t enough effort put into the port to make it worth the full  cost.
