Problems during this year’s Student Government Association elections can be prevented in the future if proposed changes to the elections code are adopted. On Wednesday afternoon, SGA shared a draft of changes with the elections code.
A Ball State chef received an award Wednesday for his performance in a regional cooking competition last month. Chef Cameron Griggs won the bronze medal in the 2014 Midwest Region Culinary Challenge. The event, which was March 3 at Michigan State, featured nine chefs from colleges around the Midwest.
Despite 189 students swarming campus late at night with plastic weaponry, campus safety officials say they had not received any complaints during the Urban Games League’s biannual “Humans vs. Zombies” event.The league also said it has received no complaints from the university regarding vandalism, trespassing or students mistaking the group’s harmless “blasters” as deadly weapons.

Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler took to Twitter this evening to show his disappointment that the Federal Emergency Management Agency denied Indiana’s petition for federal aid. “FEMA SHOULD BE ASHAMED,” he tweeted at 5:58 p.m. Muncie requested aid for the snow shelters, plowing and emergency services used. “I’m extremely disappointed,” Tyler said to the Daily News.

At Ball State, American Sign Language isn’t accepted for foreign language credit, but one student is taking it into his own hands to change that. Freshman art education major Jacob Durnen started a petition in early March to persuade the university to accept the language as a foreign language credit toward Bachelor of Arts degrees. There are 63 signatures as of publication.
The Ball State’s wheelchair basketball team played a scrimmage against IPFW tonight. Sarah Sims, one of the students who helps run the team, said the scrimmage was to give the team more experience playing actual games.
A new film depicting the lives of discriminated people in India will show on campus tonight. The South Asia Center’s CapAsia program, the Departments of Sociology and History and Freshman Connections will host the screening of “Birth 1871: History, the State, and the Arts of Denotified Tribes of India” at 7 p.m. in Burkhardt Building Room 100.
