Chance of strokes increasing in young people

The number of strokes occurring in people under 50 is sharply increasing. The majority of people who have strokes are older, but the number of people ages 15-44 who had a stroke increased by more than a third between 1995 and 2008, according to an American Heart Association study.

It’s one thing to listen to a counselor or psychiatrist talk about the struggles that come with an eating disorder and recovery, but it's another thing to hear a student’s story in person. That was the thinking behind Associate Director of the Counseling Center Ellen Lucas’ discussion on eating disorders on Feb. 25.
