The makers of prescription painkillers have adopted a 50-state strategy that includes hundreds of lobbyists and millions in campaign contributions to help kill or weaken measures aimed at stemming the tide of prescription opioids, the drugs at the heart of a crisis that has cost 165,000 Americans their lives and pushed countless more to crippling addiction.

Food labels to see dramatic change by 2018

It has been 20 years since food labels have seen much change, but now consumers can expect to see dramatic changes on labels no later than 2018. After years of research and the push from the Obama Administration and First Lady Michelle Obama, the Food and Drug Administration has announced more than a half dozen significant changes to be introduced and added to food labels in the next two years.
