The album that thrust the grunge movement into the spotlight, Nevermind, came out 26 years ago this week. Along with the Live in New York performance, Nevermind stands as one of Nirvana’s most popular albums, giving us tracks like “Come as You Are” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
Bradley’s work, both solo and with Menahan Street Band, has been sampled by countless hip-hop artists including Jay-Z and Q-Tip.
Many listeners anticipated new releases from the janglers, but instead Rankin and company spent their time in vans and onstage.
Thankfully, the lead single works much better in context, and the rest of the album contains the best sonic landscape the band has put together in a decade.
