On April 12, Ball State senior Katie Ake will board a plane with her boyfriend, Evan Layman. They are headed to Tijuana, Mexico, in search of answers to Evan’s aggressive cancer, answers they feel the United States can’t give them.

For the past five months, the staff members at Ball Bearings Magazine have been trying to answer the question: Where does our money go?
Every Monday at 3 p.m., freshman Emily Clouser waits with anticipation as a bus of New Albany second graders arrives on Ball State’s campus. Her eyes search the crowd until, suddenly, a boy runs up out of the sea of students and tackles her with a hug. It’s Christopher, her little buddy in the College Mentors for Kids program, and she’s become pretty attached to him.
The music thumped and students jumped to the beat as ChirpFest took over Dill Street on April 9. People came out for a night of music, despite the chilling temperatures — the low temperature for the day was 27 degrees.

Last September, Chirp Fest closed down Dill Street for one night of local EDM entertainment. After a year of planning and constant work, over 3000 people attended. ChirpFest is again closing down Dill Street, but will feature bigger acts and more production.
The house lights go down as the stage lights come up and the hundreds of people crowding the room begin to cheer.
