Majority of student-athletes finish semester with 3.0 GPA or higher

Student-athletes have to find the balance between the field and the classroom, and this spring 273 of Ball State's 411 student-athletes had a semester GPA of 3.0 or better, according to a ballstatesports.com press release. One hundred fifty-two student-athletes also qualified for the Dean's List with a 3.5 or better GPA, and 37 posted a perfect 4.0.

Cardinals knocked out of MAC Tournament

Ball State baseball (32-26, 15-9 MAC) finished on top of the Mid-American Conference West Division for the second time in three seasons, but was bounced from the MAC Tournament after dropping its first two games.

Ball State travels to Buffalo for 3-game series

Ball State baseball (25-17, 10-5 MAC) will play a road series at the University at Buffalo (12-24, 5-10 MAC) from April 29 to May 1. The Cardinals are currently on top of the Mid-American Conference West Division while the Bulls are tied for last in the MAC East. Buffalo carries a 5.00 ERA into the game and will face off against a Ball State lineup that scores 6.7 runs per game.

Ball State to host Northern Kentucky

Ball State baseball (24-17, 10-5 MAC) will play Northern Kentucky (15-26, 4-15 Horizon League) today at 3 p.m. The Cardinals hit .294 as a team, led by junior first baseman Caleb Stayton's .395 batting average.

Ball State hosts Bowling Green State in MAC play

At the Ball State baseball game April 23, Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex will finally receive its official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Head coach Rich Maloney said he expects a crowded stadium for the event, which coincides with Ball State Athletics’ Spring Ball Saturday. “I suspect this will be the biggest crowd that we’ve had since I’ve been here,” he said.

Butler named MAC West Pitcher of the Week

For the eighth week in a row, a Ball State baseball player earned Mid-American Conference honors. Right-handed closer BJ Butler earned the MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week award after winning two games in relief appearances against Central Michigan this weekend.

Ball State to play Purdue for the 2nd time this season

Ball State baseball (23-14, 9-3 MAC)  will head to West Lafayette to take on Purdue (5-27, 1-11 Big Ten) tonight at 6 p.m. In their last match up on March 22 in Muncie, the Cardinals erased a seven-run deficit in a come-from-behind 9-8 victory over the Boilermakers. Ball State carries a .298 team batting average into the game, the best average in the Mid-American Conference. Purdue, however, is last in the Big Ten with a .255 batting average.
