Four perfect pebbles. Pebbles were what 9-year-old Marion Blumenthal Lazan searched for while she was in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen in Germany. She believed if she could find four perfect pebbles, the four members of her family would survive. Sixty years later, Lazan speaks to a variety of groups, from school children to church groups, around the world about her experiences.

Biochemical Lab gets Department of Defense grant

Researchers in the Ball State University Biomechanics Lab are close to securing $1.2 million from the Department of Defense to help fund research into musculoskeletal injuries, which cost the military an estimated $10 million annually. Eric Dugan, the director of the Biomechanics Lab, said the research would help solidify Ball State's place in biomechanical research on a national level.

Students get hands-on experience with company

Ball State University students got hands-on learning experience while planning Vera Bradley grand openings throughout the nation. Junior finance major Benjamin Studebaker said the students, as part of a marketing and management class, worked with Vera Bradley during the semester to plan grand opening ceremonies at the company's new store locations.

FOOTBALL: Ball State has 10,000 tickets to sell for International Bowl

With about a month until the Ball State University football team plays in the International Bowl, the university is responsible for selling 10,000 tickets. Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins said Ball State was allotted 10,000 tickets and must sell them or it will have to pay for the tickets.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Offense struggles as Ball State record drops below .500

In the final game of Hoosier Classic history against Valparaiso University Saturday, coach Tracy Roller told her team to play with a chip on its shoulder after remembering the loss to Temple University earlier in the week. After losing 64-55 to the Crusaders, Ball State University finished the night shooting 40 percent from the floor; Roller said the loss was easy to explain.
