Having travelled to West Lafayette to appear in the Premier Mortar Board Tournament, expectations were high for the Cardinals.
The Ball State University cross country team got off to a fast start in their first meet of the season beating the visiting University of Indianapolis 15-50 at the Elks Country Club in Muncie. Ball State was led by the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championship runner-up Ali Bischel, who finished in first place overall in the meet.

Muncie's only island was quiet on Sunday. Despite the planned art show that afternoon, there were only two people calmly enjoying smoothies at The Island Muncie. Owner Roger Conatser said this was how most of the art shows at the Island have turned out. "The artists are few and far between, really," Conatser said.

Ball State University libero Alyssa Rio pulled her left hamstring in the Cardinals' 3-0 Friday night loss to No. 19 Purdue University, the junior told The Ball State Daily News on Saturday night.
