Earl L. Conn, a retired Ball State University journalism professor and founding dean of the College of Communication, Information, and Media, died Sunday at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was 82. Marilyn Weaver, Ball State Department of Journalism chairwoman, said she will remember Conn's love for the university's journalism program and CCIM.
Ball State University student Thorne Martin was released from Ball Memorial Hospital at 5 p.m. Tuesday, a week after accidentally shooting himself while cleaning his firearm. Martin, who had his pinky finger amputated as a result of the accident, said he is planning on attending classes Wednesday.

The 20 finalists selected from more than 50 entries met Monday night at the Alumni Center with the Homecoming Steering Committee to discuss procedures leading up to the show next week.
