Kate (She/They) is a third-year student at Ball State University majoring in Journalism (Magazine Media) with a minor in Journalistic Storytelling. She is from Antwerp, Ohio, and is excited to be the Editor-in-chief for the Daily News. Kate has been working in the field of journalism since she was 14, and she joined the DN during her first semester at Ball State. She hopes to continue a career in multimedia journalism and storytelling. Kate is a huge music fan and loves traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with her friends and family. Olivia Ground (she/her) is a fourth-year Advertising major with minors in Women and Gender Studies and Sociology. Olivia is finishing her fourth year at Ball State and fourth year with the Ball State Daily News. The southern Indiana native is passionate about preforming arts and government reporting and hopes to pursue a career in multimedia journalism and content creation. Ella Howell (She/Her) is a fourth-year journalism major with concentrations in news writing and reporting and photographic storytelling with a minor in digital media. Katherine Hill (She/Her) is a second-year Journalism major with a concentration in news writing and reporting with minors in film and screenwriting and French. She has always viewed writing as a powerful form of communication. She is from Mishawaka, Indiana. Meghan Braddy is a third-year journalism student from Griffith, IN specializing in mass communications with a minor in professional writing. Along with being the Associate News Editor for the Ball State Daily News, Meghan is an honors college peer mentor, guiding incoming freshmen through their first year. She also is a student manager at the Maplewood Guesthouse, a residence at Ball State for medical students. A true 80s enthusiast, Meghan is passionate about music and movies from that era, with Prince as her favorite artist and Dirty Dancing as her top film. Maria Nevins (She/Her) is a third-year Media major, and has a minor in Studio Art. This is her first full year with the Daily News. She is the video editor, as well as the podcast creator and host. She also works on WCRD's executive team as Assistant General Manager. She loves reading a good book, listening to music, and spending time with her favorite people in her free time. Unified Media Lab Adviser
Corey Ohlenkamp serves as the new Director of the Unified Media Lab (UML). In this role, Ohlenkamp will oversee and support student media organizations, including The Ball State Daily News, Ball Bearings, Byte and other student-led media initiatives. He will also coordinate with the team at NewsLink Indiana.
Ohlenkamp, a double alumnus of Ball State University, brings a wealth of experience in journalism and public information to this position. Originally from Crown Point, Indiana, Ohlenkamp earned his undergraduate degree in Journalism in 2014 and completed his graduate studies in the same field in 2020, both at Ball State University. His academic foundation has fueled a dynamic career in communications and journalism.
Ohlenkamp began his journey at The Star Press, a Gannett-owned newspaper in Muncie, Indiana. There, he developed his skills as a journalist, delivering in-depth coverage on a wide range of local issues through both writing and photojournalism. His commitment to accuracy and his focus on reporting what mattered most to the Muncie and Delaware County communities made him a trusted voice in the region.
Transitioning from journalism to strategic communication, Ohlenkamp expanded his expertise into public information and media relations. He has held significant roles, including Director of Communications for the City of Muncie, Public Information Officer for Indiana Michigan Power, and later for the City of Indianapolis's Department of Public Works. In each of these roles, Ohlenkamp was instrumental in managing public relations, disseminating information to the public and media, and ensuring transparent communication between these organizations and the communities they serve.
