MUNCIE, Ind. -- Damaging winds, hail and a brief tornado or two are all possible this evening across East Central Indiana.
A low pressure system is beginning to move into our region, surging warm moist air northward and presenting a risk for all severe weather hazards tonight. As a result, the Storm Prediction Center has upgraded all of East Central Indiana to a SLIGHT (2/5) risk for severe weather this evening. This is an increase in our severe threat as compared to what we were discussing on last night's broadcast, including the threat for a few tornadoes.
Currently, the thinking is that a broken line of storms currently to our west will move through the region before midnight, with the main threats being damaging winds and hail, although a tornado or two is also possible. Even outside of any storms, winds will remain quite gusty out of the south and southwest throughout the overnight hours, with gusts as strong as 25 mph possible.
Tomorrow, once we are done with the severe threat, much cooler temperatures will enter the region. This will also prompt a few snow flurries Thursday afternoon.
