Teachers College hosts chaos creating kits for new students

Students gather in the Teachers College to host an event called Valentines Day Chaos Kits, a part of the Education in Action club at Ball State University.

MUNCIE, Ind. —  Students gathered at an on-campus event in the Teachers College to host an event called Valentine’s day Chaos Kits.

At this event, it brought students, student teachers and teachers alike together to make creatures out of pom-poms, pipe cleaners and a multitude of different types of crafting materials.

Along with the event, the students were also offered free music, free food and along with creating the creatures with teachers.

With the intent of growing the population of teachers, as well as connecting students with teachers to help them for their future, President of Education in Action Sydney Schmitt spoke about the importance of hosting events to connect students with different people in their same careers.

“We are all future educators, so all of the things that we do in our meetings can easily be implemented in our future classrooms and things like that. The chaos kits, we can easily do with our students with any type of holiday activity and anything like that and many more things,” said Schmitt.

After the event ended, everyone got to share snacks and helped pack up the materials used for the event. The Vice President of Education in Action Zoey Shaneyfelt had this to say about the hosted event.

“This is one of the only clubs I am a part of at Ball State and because I am a future educator and I get to bond with future educators, we are on so many different levels so it is very nice coming into a community that is quite small but you get along with everybody and you get to understand what your job might be,” said Shaneyfelt.
