MUNCIE, Ind. — Over the weekend, The Ball State women’s tennis team secured its second straight win with a 5-2 win over Oakland University. The Cardinals are now 2-1 on the season.

The match was displayed by a come-from-behind win from Alana Bristow in which she clinched her team's win. After dropping her first set 4-6, Bristow returned to gain a 4-6, 6-0 and a 6-3 victory.

Head coach Sachin Kirtane highlighted what the goal is this early in the season.

“It’s about the growth of the team,” head Kirtane said.

Bristow’s performance was a great individual effort, she demonstrated her resilience and showed her ability to close out a tough match even as the team was shorthanded.

Kirtane spoke about the importance of winning early-season matches while the team looks ahead in preparing for conference play.

“We are a very talented team and if we put our mind to it the sky is the limit,” Kirtane said.

The team does have one common goal, however, to win the MAC Championship come springtime.

“Mac championship, Mac champions. that’s what we want to be,” Chloe Brown said.

While it is still early in the year, the team wants to look forward at the bigger goal as they use these games early on in the season to prepare.

The Cardinals will return to the Northwest YMCA on Feb.15 for a matchup against Dayton. The first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
