ORLANDO, Fla. — The 17-year-old suspect in the deadly shootings at a Halloween celebration in downtown Orlando early Friday will be tried as an adult.
Prosecutors said suspect Jaylen Dwayne Edgar will face two counts of second-degree murder, with more charges expected. They said he was charged as an adult due to the egregious nature of the crime.
Edgar is accused of having shot into a group of people in an act that prosecutors said showed a complete disregard for life. He was arrested on scene where police body camera video captured bystanders running from the fired shots.
Two men, aged 25 and 19 years old, were killed. Six others were hurt.
It was not immediately clear if Edgar had legal representation for the charges filed against him as an adult.
