MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink)-- Employment rates have fallen amidst the pandemic, and the cost of taking care of a pet has been overwhelming for many owners.
While a decrease in animal adoption rates was expected for many animal shelters, the Office Manager of Muncie Animal Shelter Ashley Honeycutt said they have “stayed fairly busy during the pandemic.”
Now, it is important that the workers at the shelter take extra protocols since volunteers were not allowed during the lockdown.
The shelter's protocols have been guided by the health department. Protocols included closing for two months, taking visitors by appointment only, and wearing masks, gowns and gloves.
Recently, the shelter has gone back to regular adoption prices, as the adoption prices had been reduced for most of the year. The Muncie Animal Shelter has completely opened back up to the public, but they require all visitors to wear a mask.
