MUNCIE, Ind.(NewsLink) -- Today we take a look back at one of the greatest Ball State football teams in history.
On Sept. 20, 2008, the Ball State Cardinals traveled to Bloomington, Indiana to take on legendary coach Lee Corso and the Indiana Hoosiers.
The Cardinals were undefeated going into the game, so they had a lot of confidence going into the game.
The game went back and forth throughout the first half, and one big factor for the Cardinals was losing wide receiver Dante Love during the second quarter, even though Ball State led by a touchdown at the half.
With the loss of their top receiver, Coach Brady Hoke made sure his Cardinals were ready to finish the job. In the second half, Ball State shut out the Hoosiers, and secured a historic victory 42-20.
With this victory comes a bond between teammates that lasts a lifetime.
A former Ball State tight end said “winning those games always brings you together, closer as a team… it’s fun to look back on things like that with the guys for sure.”
Hill had five receptions and sixty-nine yards in their upset victory.
The Cardinals would go on to have a historic season, going undefeated in the regular season, and ranking twelfth in the AP poll. Unfortunately they would lose in the MAC championship and the GMAC Bowl, but this team has a special place in every Cardinals fans’ hearts.
