MUNCIE, Ind.— Ball State’s former safety, Ray Wilborn, will be moving to the Peach State to begin his NFL career.
Wilborn agreed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent, shortly after the draft ended Saturday evening.
For his senior year at Ball State, Wilborn made the move from linebacker to safety and started all 12 games. He finished third on his team with 83 tackles, recorded interceptions, tied fourth on the team with six passes defended, broke up a pass in three of the final four games, and played in the 2020 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Pasadena, California.
Mike Neu, head coach of the Ball State Cardinals, tweeted out praises about Wilborn and his “unbelievable versatility.”
Before joining the Ball State Cardinals, Wilborn played two years at Garden City Community College in Kansas where he racked up 120 tackles and 8.5 sacks.
The 6-foot-4-inch safety is the son of Rodney and Cynthia Wilborn and has four other siblings. He graduated in December of 2019.
During the 2020 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons drafted cornerback A.J. Terrell, center Matt Hennessy, defensive tackle Marlon Davidson, linebacker Mykal Walker, safety Jaylinn Hawkins, and punter Sterling Hofrichter.
