MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink) — Ball State women’s golf claimed their first victory of the season at the Cardinal Classic today.
Ball State held onto a two stroke lead over IUPUI. The team was buoyed by a standout out performance in the second round on Monday.
The team was led by senior Manon Tounalom who finished fourth for the tournament. The team placed all five of its scoring golfers in the top twenty spots.
“We for sure want to bring home that win, get that trophy,” said sophomore golfer Morgan Lewis.
The win was a momentous one for the team. Their last victory took place in February 2018.
“We didn’t have a win last year,” said Lewis, "This is what we work for. A lot of my team is young or new to the program, so we are not very familiar with it.”
The women will continue next week at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic at Colorado State Sept. 23 and 24.
