School of Music’s Centennial Celebration

As Ball State’s centennial year begins to wrap up, the School of Music has one more celebration in honor of their 100 years. Ball State’s symphony orchestra will travel to Hilbert Circle theatre in downtown Indianapolis on April 14th. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. with a masterworks concert of instrumental and choral performances. Music played will include Beethoven’s 9th symphony played by the Ball State Orchestra, Jake Runestad’s “Proud Music of the Storm” and Ball State’s Wind Ensemble performing “Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Aldridge and “Come Sunday” by Omar Thomas. The collaboration with the different ensembles is something Ball State students look forward to. One graduate student, Kelci Kosin, spoke with NewsLink Indiana about her experience, “Being a graduate student, I get to see what it’s like to work on the professional side, working with my fellow professors I’m singing with, and then working with the conductor, so it’s a really collaborative experience for all of us, and that’s what makes it really cool”, says Kosin. Tickets for this concert can be purchased at indianapolissymphony.org. The orchestra will have a preview concert on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Sursa Performance Hall. Tickets are available in Emens box office and at the door for $5.
