A free health fair is on campus this week… and it’s for all of Muncie
The fair is sponsored by the Healthy Lifestyle Center (HLC) and the Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Clinic and will be on the first floor of the Arts and Communication Building. Jessica Harvey, an audiology student says visitors can receive “free hearing and speech/language screening, blood pressure checks, body composition readings and body mass index readings.”
One of the main reasons the HLC is sponsoring this event is to get the word out about services the center provides - free of change. The services include audiology diagnostics, diet/nutrition consultations, personalized exercise plans and mental health meetings. Anyone from Muncie can refer themselves to the center and receive free professional help.
Charlotte Thompson, an Audiology graduate student, says they hope the center can ease some of the stress that comes with healthcare.
“We realize that health checkups in general can be intimidating because there is a lot of information discussed that is difficult to understand, but we hope to avoid the intimidation factor by providing information that is easy to understand and make recommendations to address any health related issues in a friendly, judgement-free environment,” Thompson said.
The event is going on until the end of this week and will be open Nov. 29 from and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
