As a need to provide performance opportunities for Black dancers, Joan Myers Brown created The Philadelphia Dance Company in 1970. PHILADANCO! was established on principles of providing opportunity, inclusion and hope and bridges cultural divides with sold-out audiences of people from diverse ethnicities and communities.

The Minnetrista in Muncie holds its annual "Flags of Honor" event from Sept 4. to Sept. 11 to remember fallen heroes from 9/11. Visitors are invited to purchase ribbons to dedicate flags to their loved ones, with the proceeds going back to organizations in the community on behalf of the Exchange Club.
Ball State alumna Mali Simone Jeffers hosts her first major art fair for her cultural development firm, GANGGANG. The organization showcased artwork from 38 Black visual artists from Indianapolis and around the country.
