Digital, cross-media projects were shown off during the Institute for Digital Entertainment and Education's digital exchange showcase this week in the David Letterman Communication and Media Building. Production Specialist Jessica Seaton said IDEE had the showcase to inform students and faculty about what the institute does and what it wants to do.
As the season begins for the Ball State University basketball team, allegations by former coach Ronny Thompson still linger and university records indicate at least one of them is true. In a column by Michael Wilbon in the Washington Post, Thompson said the situation at Ball State was so bad he had to buy basketballs for the team.
Severed wooden legs are all that remain of the mascot that nested on the front lawn of Expectations Women's Health & Childbearing Center. Barb Bechtel, certified nursing midwife for Expectations, said employees and the Muncie Police Department are searching for "Gregory Peck," the six-foot-tall, wooden stork that perches outside the center to announce births.
Women will put on their best costumes and evening wear and give it their all in a talent and interview portion of Sigma Nu fraternity's fourth annual Miss Greek pageant. Master of Ceremonies Russ Van Natta said the pageant would be 7 p.m. Saturday in Pruis Hall and 14 women from seven of Ball State University's 11 sororities would participate.
Interfraternity Council appointed three of its members to new positions Thursday. IFC President-elect Cody Willis said he pledged to unite the fraternities from individual houses to a single unit. "If we can learn to grow as a community, the sky is the limit," he said Willis, who is the former vice president of programming at Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, said he had a goal of "bridging the gap" between the fraternities and the community.
A year removed from a loss in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament, the Ball State University soccer team has something to prove this weekend. Last year the Cardinals won the regular season MAC championship for the first time in school history but lost to Miami University 2-1 in the first round of the conference tournament.

The Ball State University soccer team received more awards to add to its Mid-American Conference regular season championship Thursday. The MAC awarded eight Ball State players with honors for their play this season. The Cardinals went 9-1-1 in the conference to win the regular season title.

Muncie Police Sergeant Brad Arey said the focus of Operation Pull Over was extra safety. This blitz of the operation is called Safe Family Travel, which will be traffic enforcement for a safe holiday season, Arey said.
There's no question that a competent, smoothly-running educational system is absolutely necessary for a well-functioning democracy. Sarah LaChat, coordinator or technology documentation and support services, said Tech Time is a computer support service for students. Computer experts will assist students in their technological dilemmas, she said.

Students in white jumpsuits and gas masks apprehensively walked through a smoke-filled classroom rescuing victims and testing for radiation during a disaster simulation Thursday in West Quad. Natural Resources Professor John Pichtel said the simulation was part of a Natural Resources and Environmental Management course that deals with emergency response to biological, chemical and nuclear hazards.
"Most cities deal with this. Muncie can't or won't," said a Ball State student survey respondent, regarding the unplowed streets in Muncie. According to a survey taken by 56 Ball State students, 89.3 percent of respondents have been inconvenienced in some way due to Muncie's unplowed streets.

Ball State vs. Toledo For the third consecutive week, the Cardinals are looking to become bowl eligible. The last two weeks Ball State lost to the University of Illinois and Indiana University. The Rockets are also looking to become bowl eligible. While Ball State has lost its last two games, the Rockets are in the midst of a three game winning streak as it defeated Ohio, Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan.
