Series of change brings Mark Sandy to Ball State athletic director position

Ball State hired Sandy on Jan. 9 to oversee its athletic department after his time at Eastern Kentucky. His tenure, which began on Feb. 1, ended a four-month search that followed the departure of former Ball State athletic director Bill Scholl, who took over the athletic director position at Marquette in October.



SGA slates to face off in debate

In this second round of debates, the full slates will square off against one other to convince students why they should vote for them. The last time there were three slates running for Student Government Association office was during the 2013 election season.

Student puts new thrift shop to the test

Sure, buying a new outfit feels great, but it’s better to go without the post-shopping, spent-all-the-money-on-H&M panic. Luckily, Jasmin Shopp, the owner of the new downtown store, Vintage Shoppe Thrift and Gift, said a student could put together a “one-of-a-kind” outfit for just $20 at her store.



Two SGA slates to appeal penalties for early campaigning

Two student government slates are looking to appeal penalties after they were fined for campaigning early, according to WCRD News. The elections board met late Thursday night the same night as the vice presidential debate to discuss code violations. Atlas and Cardinal Direction each violated Article 6, Section 2, Part D which states: “Candidates may begin campaigning upon the close of the Nomination Convention and shall end upon the conclusion of the election.” Atlas’ Facebook profile and cover photos were posted before the end of the convention, according to WCRD.



Student group pushes for concealed carry on campus

The students building a grassroots advocacy group for conceal carry rights on Ball State’s campus defy expectations--they don’t even use the word “gun.” “It’s tied into gun violence,“ their president David Vest said.

Alter Ego Comics has been in an almost constant stage of transition since it opened over ten years ago. It has changed owners, locations and most recently, its name.
