Disappointed by the lack of new Alolan forms in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon? You can always find fun and fake Pokemon around the Internet.
It might even revolutionize the idea of sci-fi multiplayer shooters as more focus is given to gameplay and being player and consumer friendly with a fully fleshed out game. Perhaps it is time for gamers to start demanding finished products with compelling expansions instead of sections of a game being stripped out and resold in season passes.
Overall, Wolfenstein II:The New Colossus is a fantastic single-player first-person shooter with beautifully written characters and spot-on performances. The story greatly expands upon the world of Wolfenstein with B.J. and his friends fighting to save America from the oppressive Nazis, with a memorable villain like Frau Engel being a formidable adversary to B.J. Blazkowicz. Fans of the series and of first-person shooters who want an exciting story will enjoy this game with its approximately 14-hour campaign that gets them to mowing down plenty of Nazis in a colorful grotesque fashion.
'Super Mario Odyssey' is a worthy successor to the 3D Mario games and an incredible addition to the Nintendo Switch library. The possession mechanic brings Mario’s adventure into a whole new light that keeps the player’s curiosity going. Despite Odyssey’s few flaws, the ample amount of creative moon challenges and the phenomenal level design make the game feel like an escape, encouraging the player to let out their inner child.
'Assassin’s Creed Origins' is a refreshing and exciting addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. While it is bogged down by the side quests and the in-game store, these are surpassed by its engaging story and characters, its complex and exciting combat system, and its loads of content. It is a revitalization of a stagnant franchise and will hopefully take future Assassin's Creed games in a new direction.
'Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back' is a mediocre reboot of a franchise famous for mediocrity. It’s no surprise that the game isn’t that great; it’s source material was bad as well. The real crime of this game is that the devs think charging $30 for a two-hour indie game is acceptable. For some perspective, the absolutely amazing 'Cuphead' is $10 cheaper for a much longer gameplay experience. 'Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind' even had more levels and playtime, so there’s no excuse for this. The only reason this game has to exist is to be bargain bin meme trash bought for friends or enemies on the Steam Summer Sale.
In what might be the quickest turn-around between allegation and repercussion, the manager of Overwatch e-sports team San Francisco Shock Max Bateman was let go just 14 hours after the abuse allegations were shared over Twitter. A woman under the handle Krystlin had tweeted that Bateman had sexually assaulted her in September after giving her a drink that made her go “in and out of consciousness” and driving her back to his home.
This weekend at BlizzCon, among many things, Blizzard announced the new Overwatch hero Moira—a support healer who has no ethical boundaries when it comes to her work.
'Middle-earth: Shadow of War' expands and improves on its predecessor in almost every way from longer story, deeper character interaction and development between them, abilities, loot and upgrades and the Nemesis System. Despite these great features and fun gameplay, it can feel cheap at times when Talion doesn’t seem to react to the player’s button presses or goes after the wrong target in a huge mob, wasting the momentum built by executing combos.
'Fire Emblem Warriors', for all its faults in trying to tell a decent story, still manages to create a satisfying gaming experience. History mode and other extra challenges keep the fun from running out too quickly, and the power of the game’s audiovisuals simply can't be denied.
All of the most dastardly Pokemon meanies team up to destroy Alola or the gap between dimensions and parallel universes or something; I lost track of the plot after Alpha Sapphire’s post game. This means that not only do we get to see some favorites like Archie and Maxie again, but also Cyrus, Ghetsis, Lysandre, and Giovanni.
Decksplash enters a free-to-play week starting today, and needs at least 100,000 players to convince the folks at Bossa to keep working on the game and not scrap it completely. For Decksplash, it is literally skate or die.
