The suspected tornado in northwestern Delaware County has not been rated yet by the National Weather Service. Survey crews are making their way across Indiana to review storm damage from yesterday. Most recently, the tornado in Brownsburg, Indiana, located in Hendricks County to the west of Indianapolis, was rated an EF-2 by the National Weather Service. A preliminary rating is expected within the next 24 hours.

Significant damage has been recorded along Indiana State Route 28 east of Wes-Del High School from last night’s storms. More damage was observed across portions of northwestern Delaware County, including roofs blown off and downed trees on N County Rd 600 and 500 W. Damage was spotted along and near N Nebo Rd. as well. Multiple windows were shattered on the Ball State University campus, and barns were destroyed in Pendleton in Madison County.

Indiana-Michigan Power says 7,000 customers are without power, but this is not a total count. A travel advisory is currently in effect for Delaware and Madison County. This is the lowest level of local travel advisory, which means routine travel may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid these areas.

Last night also saw many reports of standing water and localized flooding. This situation is expected to worsen, with rain forecasted through the weekend. A flood watch is in effect for the entire NewsLink Indiana viewing area until 8:00 a.m. Sunday. This includes Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Henry, Jay, Madison, Randolph, and Wayne County. Remember, if you see standing water in roadways and do not know the depth, turn around and don’t drown.
