Increased patrols for speeding and distracted driving in Muncie

Delaware County law enforcement to crack down on speeding and distracted driving.

MUNCIE, Ind. — The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announced via Facebook that it will participate in a statewide traffic safety campaign in April.

Officers will look out for speeding and distracted driving– two major causes of crashes, which contributed to over 230 deaths in Indiana last year.

Holding or using a mobile device while driving is against Indiana law, and violations can lead to fines and/or points on your license.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office said law enforcement issued over 7,600 citations and 11,000 warnings in 2024 alone.
