Future Cardinals take flight: Admitted Student Day at Ball State University

Students who have been accepted to Ball State and their families explore campus life and academic opportunities during Admitted Student Day.

MUNCIE, Ind. — On Admitted Student Day, students who have been accepted to Ball State University are invited to explore everything the campus has to offer before making their final college decision.

This event allows high school seniors to get a more up-close look at Muncie’s campus life. Faculty, staff and current students are here to show them the ropes, answer questions, and offer a glimpse into life at Ball State.

“We really just want to take today to welcome everybody in, give them answers to those last questions, and make sure they feel comfortable before summer, and then eventually orientation,” Brooke Himes, Digital and Community Engagement Coordinator for CCIM, explained.

Admitted Student Day is also a chance for attendees to learn about the unique offerings within different academic programs. From Business to Education to Media majors– tents and booths have been set up to educate future Cardinals about their fields of interest. These tents and booths also serve as places to spark unknown interests.

Ball State’s comfortable campus is a big attraction for many students. However, everyone has their own personal reason for choosing the university.

“I wanted to attend Ball State because from the first time that I came here I felt like it was a really good atmosphere with an all-together community,” a prospective student shared.

With a scheduled day full of tours and information sessions, parents are invited to attend alongside their student, some of whom are alumni. Even after decades, alumni are eager to return to the vibrant campus that left a lasting impression on them.

The Byers family, made up of alumni parents and a future cardinal, finds the campus endearing.

“It was welcoming in the 90s, and it's the same thing today, 30 years later,” said the Byers family.

Staff, faculty, and students are hoping that the next generation of Cardinals landing on campus this fall– not only feel informed but also connected to the community they will soon be a part of after Admitted Students Day.
