The Ball State Daily News sports section got the travel day out of the way yesterday, and today was all focused on coverage.
Ball State women’s basketball was the first game of the day, with the tip coming at 11 a.m. That being said, it was an early wake-up call for the crew.
The group arrived at Rocket Arena at 9:30 a.m., with ample time to explore the media room, find media seating and adjust to the NBA-scale arena.

Rocket Arena does not have media food, but free popcorn and coffee kept the staff ready for the day.
Photographers Andrew Berger and Titus Slaughter were locked in on photos. Zach Carter was double-dipping by taking photos and working on features (yeah, BOTH). Derran Cobb recorded hundreds of clips for social media. Elijah Poe and Logan Connor covered the game for print content, as they’ve done all season.
The Cardinals defeated Western Michigan 82-53 to advance to the next round of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) tournament.
The staff worked on articles, columns, photos, social media and more until they left Rocket Arena at 3:30.
After walking to the hotel and dropping the bags off, the group went to the Harry Buffalo, a Cleveland staple.
Harry Buffalo offers wings, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and more. After dedicated hours of work, the crew covered everything on that list, getting a wide variety of foods.
After a few hours of rest, Cobb, Connor and Poe went to watch the second half of Bowling Green vs. Buffalo. It was truly a shootout.
The group ended the night at Buffalo Wild Wings watching college and NBA basketball.
