It is finally tournament time.
But before the madness started, there was no better way to start the day with breakfast. The crew split between Panera and the Magnolia Press, where coffee was a must after the long day of travel.
We all went back to the hotel where Elijah Poe had interviews for a story. After wrapping up the interviews, the crew worked on what they could before heading to Foster Pavilion around noon for No. 4 Baylor vs. No. 13 Grand Canyon University at 2:30 p.m.
Since Baylor is hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, the Pavilion was about 80 percent full. It was rocking. GCU and Baylor were trading baskets on almost every possession, keeping things intense throughout.
The Lopes (GCU) were able to keep it close until the final minutes of the game, and the Bears crowd was standing for the majority of the game.
After the first game action, it was time for our main event, No 12. Ball State vs. No. 5 Ole Miss.

The Cardinals opened up on a 7-0 run, but the Rebels settled in and their stiff defense mixed with their transition offense was too much for Ball State.
The group worked on their stories, edited photos or put together videos.
All in all, it was a packed day full of work.

The crew leaves Monday night, so we will be searching every street in Waco, Texas for things to do.
Again, we cannot thank the donors and supporters enough for giving student journalists this opportunity to cover Ball State on a national stage.
